Request a collection

We can arrange for the collection of bulky and electrical waste, such as old furniture or appliances, from your home.

Please note: this service cannot be used for house clearances - should you require a house clearance please contact a private company accordingly.

This is a chargeable service. Items are classed as large or small and there is a charge per item as follows (size guidelines below):

  • Small Items: Bulky £10 / Electrical £13
  • Large items: Bulky £20 / Electrical £25
  • For multiple items we also offer a set charge of £50 for a 25 minute loading time

Important information:

  • You must list all items on the form, which will be included in the collection.
  • Bulky waste can only be collected from outside your home, near the edge of your property and must be left out from 7am on the day of collection.

Once your application has been processed you  will be contacted by our contractor and advised when your collection will take place. This can take up to 5 working days for the first contact and 10 days to complete the collection.

Bulky item costs

Your bulky waste will be classed as a large item if it takes more than one person to carry. Please see our Bulky waste size guidelines or contact us for further information.

Please note garden waste must be bagged, boxed or tied for ease and safety of handling. Customers who have a lot of regular garden waste may want to sign-up for our garden waste collection service

Electrical item costs

The Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE Directive) states that all electrical equipment must be collected and dealt with separately. Please take look at our Bulky/Electrical waste size guidelines or contact us for further information.

Set charge loading time

This is the best option if the cost of your single items, when added together, is more than £50.

A set charge of £50 is payable for 25 minutes loading time.

This is also an option for items that do not fit into the large or small item categories listed above. Such as:

  • Dismantled garden sheds
  • Fence panels
  • Carpet pieces
  • Pianos - broken up only
  • Tree-trunks and other garden material needing more than one person to carry

Council Tax / Housing Benefits savings

The Council offers a 50% saving for residents who get Council Tax and / or Housing Benefit. This does not apply if you already get Single Person Discount on Council Tax due to living alone.

What we won't collect

General building waste

General building waste such as:

  • Hard core
  • Concrete
  • Rubble
  • Gas canisters
  • Paint pots
  • Plasterboard

Storage heaters

Storage heaters are seen as hazardous waste because they may contain asbestos. Make sure the heater is bagged in 1000 gauge polythene (250 micron = 0.25mm) and taped tightly shut.

Please take it to your local household waste and recycling site and tell a member of staff when you get there.
