Hazardous Waste
Mid Sussex cannot collect hazardous materials.
Please take any hazardous materials to your local Recycling Centre where special storage is available.
What is hazardous waste?
- Asbestos
- Batteries
- Flammable materials
- Fire extinguishers
- General chemicals such as garden fertilisers and weed killers, cleaning products
- Hazardous chemicals
- Gas bottles
- Motor oil / cooking oil
- Fluorescent tubes

You may be held responsible for any rubbish found illegally dumped and traced back to you.
Any contractors you hire to remove hazardous waste from your home or property must be a registered waste carrier.
Always ask for their waste carrier number and keep details of their name, telephone number and vehicle registration number.
