1.The free prize draw

To celebrate the launch of the 1, 2, 3 waste collection programme, Mid Sussex 
District Council will be holding a free prize draw giveaway. 


• 10 golden tickets will be placed in the new 5L food caddies which will begin to be 
delivered to Mid Sussex residents from 22 September 2025. Delivery of the 
caddies to all Mid Sussex residents will be completed by 3 October 2025. Each 
golden ticket will give one lucky Mid Sussex resident the opportunity to claim a 
prize, subject to the terms and conditions below.


• Each golden ticket corresponds to a prize. There will be 2 ‘Gold’, 3 ‘Silver’ and 5 
‘Bronze’ prizes.

2. Eligibility

 Only Mid Sussex residents aged 18 or over may claim a prize.
• Only one prize can be claimed per golden ticket, per Mid Sussex resident and
household, using the unique code printed on the back of the golden ticket.
• There is no cost to claim a prize.
• Mid Sussex District Council employees, Serco employees, anyone connected 
with the prize draw and any individuals living in the same household of the 
former are not eligible to claim a prize.
• Only the main council taxpayer of the household is eligible to claim a prize.

3. Selection of winners

• The 10 winners will be chosen at random using Microsoft Excel to assign a 
random number to each address in the district. Serco will use Google’s random 
number generator to produce 10 numbers. The 10 addresses that correspond to 
each number will win a prize.

4. Prize Details

Each golden ticket corresponds to one of the following prizes:
• Gold Prize: 
- a premium hamper featuring a curated selection of local Sussex produce
(valued at approx. £55); and either
- a Wakehurst Gardens family pass (valued at approx. £55.50); or
- a Lifestyle Ultimate Voucher (valued at approx. £50).
• Silver Prize: 
- a small hamper showcasing a variety of local Sussex produce (valued at 
approx. £40); and
- a free Bulky Waste collection of a maximum of 10 items which must adhere 
to the Council’s bulky waste Terms and Conditions (valued at approx. £26.50)
• Bronze Prize: 
- a single fresh delivery of seasonal vegetables from Ashurst Organics (valued 
at approx. £15)
• The specific produce items in the hampers are subject to availability and at the 
discretion of the Council. 

5. Prize Conditions

• Prizes are non-exchangeable, non-transferable, and cannot be redeemed for 
cash or alternative items.
• Should a winner choose not to claim their prize, no further action is required. 
• Mid Sussex District Council may disqualify any entrant whose entry does not 
comply with these terms and conditions. Mid Sussex District Council may also 
disqualify any entrant whom it has reasonable grounds to believe has acted in a 
manner that is fraudulent, dishonest or unjust to other entrants including, 
without limitation, tampering with the operation of the prize draw, manipulating 
or rigging votes, hacking, deceiving, cheating or by harassing or threatening other 
entrants or a representative of the Council.

6. How to Claim a Prize

 All prizes must be claimed by 11:59pm on Friday 31st October 2025.
• Winners should claim their prize, by emailing comms@midsussex.gov.uk with 
the unique code which can be found on the golden ticket. Winners without 
access to email, can call the Mid Sussex District Council on 01444 458 166 or 
visit the Mid Sussex District Council reception in person at Oaklands, Oaklands 
Road, Haywards Heath, RH16 1SS, where the Customer Services team can 
assist with claiming a prize. 
• If claimed by email, the winner will receive a link to a Microsoft Form where the 
winner must: 
o Confirm that they are not a Mid Sussex District Council employee, a Serco 
employee, connected with the prize draw or an individual living in the 
same household of the former;
o Confirm their acceptance of the prize;
o Provide their full name and home address; and
o Consent to the Council storing their data for the purpose of administering 
the prize draw.

7. Receiving a Prize

Winners should receive their prize no later than 30 days from the date of claim. 

8. Unclaimed Prizes and Ineligible Prize Winners

• For unclaimed prizes, a charitable donation equal to the prize value will be made 
to Macmillan Cancer Support, as the chosen charity of the Mid Sussex District 
Council Chairman Councillor Mike Kennedy CBE.
• In the unlikely event that a winner is identified to be ineligible to claim a prize, a 
charitable donation equal to the prize value will be made to Macmillan Cancer 
Support, as the chosen charity of the Mid Sussex District Council Chairman 
Councillor Mike Kennedy CBE.

• Mid Sussex District Council will collect and retain each winner’s personal 
information (name, email address, and home address) solely for the purpose of 
administering the prize draw. Data will be stored in accordance with Mid Sussex 
District Council’s Privacy policy.
• By submitting their details, winners consent to the Council storing this 
information for 30 days in accordance with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 
2018.
• Data will only be used for the purposes of awarding the prize and will be deleted 
once the prize draw process is complete.
• Winners may be asked for separate consent in writing to take part in reasonable 
publicity for the golden ticket prize draw which may involve the publication of 
their name and the use of photography
