Vehicle Licence Requirements
To be eligible for a vehicle licence, the following documents and requirements must be submitted in full with the vehicle licence application and relevant fees. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
Mandatory Documentation
The following must be provided:

Proof of Ownership
One of the following is required:

- V5C (Vehicle Registration Certificate), or
- Green Slip (New Keeper Supplement), or
- Detailed invoice from a registered dealership

Valid Insurance Certificate
The insurance must clearly state cover for:

- Private Hire, or
- Public Hire (Hackney Carriage)

Valid MOT Certificate
Must be current and issued by an authorised MOT testing centre.

Fitness Test Certificate
Issued by one of the MSDC-approved Fitness Centres.

CCTV Installation Certificate
Certificate must be from an MSDC-approved CCTV installation company.

First Aid Kit
A Travel First Aid Kit, compliant with BS 8599 standards, must be carried in the vehicle at all times. The First Aid Kit shall be clearly marked with a permanent marker with the licence number of the vehicle.

Taxi Meter Calibration Certificate (Hackney Vehicles Only)
Required for all Hackney Carriages.

Plate Holder
A plate holder must be affixed to the rear of the vehicle.

Completed Vehicle Licence Application Form
All relevant sections must be completed and fees paid.
