Vehicle Fitness Test Requirements
All vehicles licensed by Mid Sussex District Council are required to undergo regular Fitness Tests to ensure they meet the necessary roadworthiness, safety, and compliance standards.

Note: It is the licence holder’s responsibility to ensure the vehicle is tested on time. A valid Fitness Test Certificate must be submitted with every vehicle licence application and renewal.

Important Information
- Only certificates issued by one of the approved centres listed above will be accepted.
- Ensure you book your test in advance to avoid delays in licensing.
- If an appointment is broken or cancelled by the proprietor with less than 48 hours’ notice a fee can be charged by the Fitness centre.
- A failed Fitness Test will result in the licence being suspended until it passes.
- Vehicles that do not pass the Fitness Test are eligible for a free retest, provided it occurs within seven calendar days and the vehicle has not exceeded 250 miles since the initial test.
