Taxi Complaints
Taxi Complaints - How to Report an Issue
Step 1: Contact the Taxi Operator First
If you booked your journey through a taxi operator and have a complaint regarding:
- the route taken
- the driver’s attitude
- the fare charged
Please speak directly to the taxi operator in the first instance. If they consider the complaint to be sufficiently serious, they will refer you to the Licensing Team.
Step 2: Contact the Council
If:
- you are not satisfied with the operator’s response,
- or your complaint is about a taxi operator,
- or your journey was not pre-booked (e.g. hailed on the street or from a rank),
You can contact the Licensing Team using the online complaints form.
Use this form to report issues such as:
- a driver's behaviour or attitude
- the condition of the vehicle
- the driver not taking the direct route
- incorrect meter readings or overcharging
- a driver refusing to take a wheelchair user, not securing a wheelchair, or refusing an assistance dog
