Before you apply for a grant please download and read:
Types of grant
Grants of up to £5,000.
For projects where money is needed for an activity or piece of equipment which will benefit the community or contribute to the local economy.
The council holds a Section 106 Fund which can be used to support capital projects concerning works to:
- Community buildings
- Recreation facilities (play areas and sports)
- Public artworks
This money often has restrictions attached and can only be used for specific locations.

Please note: Grant applications are considered by the Cabinet grants panel which meets three times a year. You will be asked to complete an End of Grant form on completion of your project if your application is successful.
The number of awards that each organisation can receive is limited to one application in each financial year.
Closing dates for applications
For activities starting from:
- March/April: 10 January
- July/August: 1 May
- November/December: 1 September
You can apply for a grant if:
The project benefits the wider community
All applications will need to demonstrate how their activity can help the Council to deliver on at least one of its Corporate Priorities:
- Financial Independence
- Effective and Responsive Services
- Sustainable Economic Growth
- Strong and Resilient communities
The grant will be of direct benefit to the residents of Mid Sussex District
At least 80% of the people that will benefit from the project must be residents of Mid Sussex
You are a:
- Not-for-profit group
- Charity
- School
- Parish or town council
You are a community group/club/society
Your society must be properly formed and has a:
- Governing document or a constitution
- Bank account and financial records - or financial projections if newly formed
Your organisation must be open to all and have an equal opportunities statement.
