Update on South East waster issue in East Grinstead and recycling collections

“South East Water have said: "Our sole focus right now is on restoring supplies to affected customers in East Grinstead. When supplies have been restored, we will work with care homes, schools, GP surgeries and Priority Service Customers, who we delivered water to, and arrange the collection and recycling of used water bottles, where possible."

Please see South East Water's website for live service updates.

For domestic households not on the Priority Services Register, we're aware that you're likely to have more recycling than usual, due to the additional empty plastic bottles. To help our waste team collect these, please could you squash them and ensure lids are removed before putting them in your recycling bin. We have commissioned additional recycling support rounds from our waste contractor, Serco, to accommodate the potential increased volume of plastic waste. If you do not have room in your recycling bin, please place the crushed bottles in a box next to your recycling bin for collection.
