Mount Noddy improvements officially opened

Residents in East Grinstead are now able to enjoy a reimagined Mount Noddy following a major programme of improvements designed to create a more welcoming, accessible, and enjoyable space for the whole community.

At the heart of the project is a transformed play area and a brand-new youth zone, providing more opportunities for children and young people to be active, have fun and spend time outdoors. The youth zone includes facilities for informal sports, while the enhanced play area offers a wider range of play experiences for younger children and families.

Alongside these new facilities, the project has delivered a new central plaza, creating an attractive space for people to meet and spend time together, as well as improvements to the pavilion exterior and improved pitch drainage to support sport and recreation throughout the year.

Chairman of Mid Sussex District Council, Councillor Mike Kennedy CBE, officially opened Mount Noddy before joining Cabinet Member Councillor Simon Hicks, council officers and project partners from Allen Scott Landscape Architecture and Blakedown Landscapes for a tour of the new facilities and the wider improvements delivered through the project.

Councillor Mike Kennedy said: “Mount Noddy has long been an important part of community life in East Grinstead, and we are pleased to officially open the new facilities following the completion of this exciting programme of improvements.”

Councillor Chris Hobbs, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Customer Services, said: "Our parks play an important role in supporting health, wellbeing and community life, which is why investing in these spaces is so important.

"The improvements at Mount Noddy have helped modernise the site while respecting what local people value most about it. The result is a more welcoming and accessible space that offers something for everyone, from young children and teenagers to families, sports clubs and the wider community."
