John Pears Tennis Courts refurbished and ready for play

Residents in Ashurst Wood and surrounding areas are invited to enjoy the newly refurbished John Pears Tennis Courts following the completion of improvement works.

The project forms part of Mid Sussex District Council's ongoing investment in community sports facilities, helping to maintain and improve local spaces for sport and recreation.

The two tennis courts have been resurfaced and repainted, with new line markings providing a smoother, more durable playing surface and improving visibility for players. The works have improved the quality, safety and longevity of both facilities, helping to ensure they remain accessible and enjoyable for residents for years to come.

By investing in the facility now, the Council is extending the life of the courts and reducing the need for more extensive repairs in the future. The upgraded courts also support the Council's wider ambition to encourage healthy, active lifestyles by providing accessible, high-quality facilities for residents of all ages.

Councillor Chris Hobbs, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Customer Services at Mid Sussex District Council, said: "We're pleased to see the John Pears Tennis Courts back open and ready for the community to enjoy. Whether they're being used by the local tennis club or simply for a hit around with friends and family, the courts provide an important space for people to be active outdoors.

"The refurbishment has improved the playing experience and will help ensure the courts remain a valued local facility for years to come. We hope residents will enjoy making the most of the upgraded courts.”
