Free Skate Fest activities return to Mid Sussex this May half term
- 15/05/2026
Free activities for children and young people are coming to parks across the district this May.
Mid Sussex District Council is bringing back its popular Skate Fest events for May half term, giving children and young people the chance to try something new or brush up on their skills. The events are free to attend and no booking is required – just turn up and enjoy the fun.
Each Skate Fest event will feature live demonstrations and coaching led by experienced providers, with a different focus at each location – from skateboarding to BMX and scootering. Practical support will also be available, with free wheel safety checks for all equipment, alongside basic bike repairs.
DJ workshops, graffiti-style art activities and games will run throughout the sessions, so there’s something for everyone, whatever their interests.
Organised by Mid Sussex District Council, Skate Fest events will run from 2pm to 4.30pm on:
- Tuesday 26 May at St John’s Park, Burgess Hill, RH15 9AA
- Wednesday 27 May at Victoria Park, Haywards Heath, RH16 4LR
- Thursday 28 May at King George’s Field, East Grinstead, RH19 3LH
Cllr Anne-Marie Cooke, Cabinet Member for Communities and Communications, said: “Skate Fest is a fantastic opportunity for young people to be active, learn new skills and enjoy free activities in their local parks. By working in partnership with a variety of providers, we’re able to deliver worthwhile, inclusive sessions for families to enjoy this May half term.”
Skate Fest is just one of a wide range of free community events organised by the council for families and young people during school holidays. It follows the success of the council’s Playdays programme earlier this year, which attracted more than 1,000 attendees during the recent April Easter holidays.
