Free ‘Play Days on Tour’ events for children return to Mid Sussex this summer
- 19/06/2026
Looking for free activities for children this summer? Due to popular demand, ‘Play Days on Tour’ is returning to Mid Sussex with ten free, family-friendly events taking place in parks and green spaces across the district.
Organised by Mid Sussex District Council, the programme will run throughout the school holidays and is designed for children under 10, but all ages are welcome.
Starting on the 28th of July in Haywards Heath and finishing on the 26th of August in Bolney, two events will take place each week, offering a wide range of activities delivered by more than 30 organisations.
Children can enjoy everything from giant outdoor games and circus skills to music workshops, puppet and magic shows, sports activities, dance sessions, and arts and crafts, with plenty to keep them entertained throughout the afternoon. A full list of all of the activities at each location will be made available on the Play Days page of our website.
Each event will take place in a local park or green space, making it easy for families to enjoy free activities close to home during the holidays.
Events will run from 2pm to 4pm on:
- Tuesday 28 July at Victoria Park, Haywards Heath, RH16 4LR
- Wednesday 29 July at The Haven Rec, Crawley Down, RH10 4LJ
- Tuesday 4 August at Adastra Park, Hassocks, BN6 8QH

Councillor Anne-Marie Cooke, Cabinet Member for Communities and Communications, said: “We’re delighted to bring ‘Play Days on Tour’ back this summer. Set in our beautiful local parks and green spaces, these events give children the opportunity to be active, explore their creativity and have fun in a safe and welcoming environment during the school holidays.
We recognise that the cost of days out can be challenging for many families, so providing free, accessible activities remains an important part of our support for local communities.”
Our summer Play Days are aimed at under 10s but are open to all children. No advance booking is required – families can simply turn up and take part. Due to limited parking at some locations, visitors are encouraged to walk, cycle or use public transport where possible.
