Free October Half Term Play Days return to Mid Sussex
- 15/10/2026
Families across Mid Sussex are invited to enjoy a packed programme of free activities this October half term as Mid Sussex District Council brings its popular Indoor Play Days back to Burgess Hill, East Grinstead, and Haywards Heath. The events are free to attend and designed to help children try new things and have fun during the school holidays.
Following a successful summer programme that welcomed a record attendance of more than 3,500 people across the district this Summer, the Council is once again offering a range of activities for children and families. Activities across the three events will include circus skills, hockey, silent discos, arts and crafts, music sessions, dance activities, puppet performances, nature-themed crafts, and first aid skills.
The October Half Term Indoor Play Days will take place from 2pm to 4pm on:
• Tuesday 27 October at Kings Centre, Burgess Hill (RH15 9LR)
• Wednesday 28 October at Jubilee Centre, East Grinstead (RH19 2HL)
• Friday 30 October at Dolphin Leisure Centre, Haywards Heath (RH16 1LY)
Councillor Anne-Marie Cooke, Cabinet Member for Communities and Communications at Mid Sussex District Council, said:
"Our Play Days are all about giving children the chance to try something new and have fun during the school holidays. From sports and physical activities to music, dance, crafts and quieter creative sessions, there's something to suit every interest. The activities cater for a range of ages, from toddlers upwards, providing something for the whole family to enjoy."
The Play Days programme is supported by a range of local clubs, activity providers and community organisations.
There is no need to book in advance. Activities are aimed primarily at children under 10, although families with children of all ages are welcome to attend. All equipment is provided.
Due to the popularity of Play Days, the events operate on a first-come, first-served basis. As these are indoor events, venue capacity is limited and families may experience a short queue on arrival.
Families are encouraged to walk where possible, use public transport, or car-share as parking is limited at all venues.
