This website is built and maintained by a third party supplier on behalf of Mid Sussex District Council.
We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen;
- navigate the website using just a keyboard;
- navigate the website using speech recognition software;
- listen to the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver).
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

We aim to meet the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at AA level. We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible, and we are making progress to investigate which areas of the third party site are compromised.
How do we keep our content accessible?
Whitespace formally test on a regular basis against WCAG 2.2 AA standards. If you find something that does not work that has been missed, please contact us.
From a test completed by Whitespace in February 2025 the website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard. We are aware of the following issues:
The page ‘Request a replacement recycling bin’ is defined without a heading. This does not impact the accessibility of the page, however this fails to meet WCAG 2.2 A 1.3.1 and AA 2.4.6 requirements of the standard.
We are also aware that some automated test tools find false positive results because of the limitations test tools.
Enforcement procedure
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Web Housing & Council Tax sites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
We’re always looking to improve the accessibility of this website. If you find any problems that aren’t listed on this page or think we’re not meeting the requirements of the accessibility regulations, email
If you need information on this website in a different format, email webmaster@midsussex.gov.uk.
