Building Control Fees

Where a building proposals fall outside these standard charge categories, an individual assessment of charges will be required.

Please email providing details of the proposed work together with a request that the charge be determined.

Please note that VAT at the standard rate (20%) should be added to all charges, except regularisation charges, which are always determined individually (see below).

Full Plans Application

When submitting a Full Plans application, the Plan Charge must be paid when the application is made.

We will invoice the applicant for the Inspection Charge after our first site inspection. An alternative name for invoicing can be given if required.

Building Notice Application

When submitting a Building Notice application, payment is required in full.

Regularisation Applications

The charge required when depositing an application for Regularisation is subject to an individual assessment.

Exemptions for Work to Provide Access and Facilities for Disabled Persons

Charges are not payable when the proposed work is to provide access and facilities in an existing dwelling or an extension to store equipment or provide medical help for a disabled person.

In order to claim exemption, the appropriate evidence must be shown.

Relevance of the adaptation for the person's disability must support any proposals. (e.g. this could be an Occupational Therapist's recommendation).

Payments for any of the services above can be made by debit/credit card via our online payments system, Please select "Building Control" from the payment-type list and then the application/service-type from the drop-down menu. Enter the site address, the payment amount and your contact telephone number. Payment can also be made by cheque (payable to 'Mid Sussex District Council')
