MSDC Chairman to host charity music night

PR2450/LJ/MF - 08/08/2022

Mid Sussex District Council Chairman Margaret Belsey encourages people to join her for an evening of swing music in aid of her chosen local charity Kangaroos Fun Disability Clubs.

The Swing Ninjas will be performing a mix of New Orleans and UK Swing at the Chequer Mead Theatre, East Grinstead on Thursday 20 October 2022 at 7pm. With two albums of original music and four more featuring classic swing tunes, it is little wonder this fun loving, charming and soulful group have headlined festivals from Virginia to Bahrain.

Councillor Margaret Belsey, Chairman of Mid Sussex District Council said:

“Join us for a lively evening with the Swing Ninjas, a high energy swing band with a modern musical flair. Their vocal harmonies and highly skilled performances breathe new life into classic swing tunes and bring the spirit of New Orleans right here to East Grinstead.

“It promises to be a fabulous fundraising event so please come along and have a fantastic evening while showing your support for local Sussex charity, Kangaroos Fun Disability Clubs.”

Kangaroos was established in 1994 by a small group of parents whose children attended Court Meadow School in Cuckfield, which specialises in supporting children with learning disabilities. The parents wanted their children to be able to access after school activities and opportunities that mainstream school children enjoyed, so they set up a Saturday playscheme for six children. Now the organisation has grown immeasurably and currently supports 227 members ranging in age from 6 to 35.

Tickets to see The Swing Ninjas at Chequer Mead Theatre, East Grinstead on 20 October 2022 are available to buy now at www.chequermead.org.uk priced at £20, with a half-price ticket option for children under 16.
