Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment

The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) requires local planning authorities to produce a strategic housing land availability assessment to identify sufficient land to meet their housing need over the plan period.

This Draft Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment was published in February 2015.

A final version will be published in Spring 2015, which will have a base date of April 2015.

Following feedback received at the developer workshop held in January 2015 we are providing site promoters and land owners further opportunity to submit further information on their sites. In particular, comments are sought on how identified constraints could be overcome, and any factual inaccuracies and delivery timescales. Any further comments should be submitted to LDFconsultation@midsussex.gov.uk and be received by 13th April 2015.

Review of Landscape and Visual Aspects of Site Suitability

Land Use Consultants were appointed to undertake a focused review of the SHLAA.  The purpose was to provide a detailed and robust assessment of the potential for development, with a focus on landscape and visual impact considerations.   The review focuses on the greenfield sites where they had been assessed as not suitable for development, but where available and achievable and greenfield sites that were assessed as developable.  A total of 99 were reviewed.  The findings of the study have been incorporated into the SHLAA assessment.
