Free online learning modules and live Q&A sessions

The virtual hub offers a programme of free online learning modules and live Q&A sessions to help local retail businesses strengthen their skills and improve their knowledge of key topics. This is a joint initiative being delivered collectively with other local authorities in West Sussex to support our independent retail businesses.

The West Sussex Retail Hub is part of a broader programme of support including grant funding which will launch later in the year.  A requirement of the grant funding will be that businesses have engaged with the training element of the programme.

Grant Funding

Independent Retailers Grant Support 
Mid Sussex District Council has grant funding available to support independent retailers (less than 5 stores) in Mid Sussex to make improvements to their premises and / or retail operations. It is a requirement of the grant scheme that applicants have engaged with the online training and completed at least one of the training modules prior to application.
The grant available will be up to 75% of eligible costs, to a maximum contribution of £4,000.
Possible work that the grant could cover includes:  
  • New replacement shop front or fascia  
  • Redecoration of shop fronts 
  • External lighting and / or canopies 
  • New internal fixtures and fittings 
  • Upgrade to till systems, ecommerce activity or omni-channel / digital offer.
