Planning a Street Party?
If you are planning a Street Party remember to apply on the Mid Sussex website for a temporary road closure more than six weeks before your event. You can find helpful tips, advice and support for organising a successful event on the Street Party website.
Queen’s Green Canopy
The Queen’s Green Canopy encourages planting of trees to create a legacy of the celebration and benefit future generations. Mid Sussex District Council plan to plant 250 new trees and encourages individuals and organisations to get involved in their own garden or land.
Help design a royal woodland seat competition
Children and young people across Mid Sussex are invited to join in the Jubilee celebrations by getting creative!
As part of our commemoration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Mid Sussex District Council is taking part in the Queen’s Green Canopy and will be planting 250 new trees in a woodland copse.
We are asking young people up to the age of 16 to design a ‘woodland seat' which we aim to locate in the area. Volunteers at Burgess Hill Shed will use the winning design to provide inspiration for their creation as a reminder of this special year.
Designs should consider the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and try to reflect the themes of the celebration in their design.
Please email designs to jubilee2022@midsussex.gov.uk or send to MSDC offices quoting 'Woodland seat competition'. Entries must be received by Tuesday 7th of June.
You can use this template or send entries without the template.
Street Party Scrapbook
Many residents will be planning street parties or community picnics as part of the Jubilee Celebrations. We would like to commemorate these, and all the Royal Street Parties over the years, by creating a ‘virtual Street Party scrapbook’ showing celebrations of the past alongside those of the 2022 Platinum Jubilee.
Please send in your Street Party images (with a bit of explanatory text about where and when they took place) and we will add them to the album which will be available here.
Submissions for the Street Party Scrapbook can be emailed to jubilee2022@midsussex.gov.uk or posted to the Mid Sussex District Council offices. Please note, the Council is unable to return any items that are submitted and by submitting them you are confirming you have permission to share them.
