Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy Survey
Mid Sussex District Council is consulting on its Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy 2020-2025.
We would like to hear your views on the work we do and how best to support people to prevent homelessness. The consultation is seeking views on further action that the council and its partners should take and acts as a call for suggestions for local or community based action.
Our draft Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy is organised around 5 key priorities:
- Prevent homelessness wherever possible by early identification and intervention
- Minimise the use of and improve temporary accommodation
- Prevent recurring homelessness
- Tackle rough sleeping and homelessness amongst specific vulnerable groups
- Enable access to suitable and affordable accommodation.
How your views will help
The Homelessness Act 2002 requires local authorities to carry out a review of homelessness and homelessness services in their area every five years. Therefore Mid Sussex District Council is looking to develop a new Homelessness Strategy for the years spanning from 2020 until 2025.
To help us develop our new strategy we would like to hear the views of our residents, partners and stakeholders on the work we do and how best to support people to prevent homelessness.
We are particularly keen to hear from residents who may have had personal experience of homelessness in Mid Sussex. The consultation is seeking views on further action that the council and its partners should take and acts as a call for suggestions for local or community based action. Your feedback will inform the development of the draft Homelessness Strategy.
We propose the following vision for the new Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy for Mid Sussex.
Mid Sussex as a local authority is committed to making best use of its resources and creativity to make the experience of homelessness rare, brief and non-recurring. We aim to enable all residents to access a stable, secure and decent home.
If you have experienced homelessness or been at risk of becoming homeless, we would like to find out what your experience was of our services so that we can learn and improve. If you are a resident and/or a landlord, if you work for a third sector or a public organisation, we would like to hear your views on our proposed key priorities.
If you would like to participate, please complete our survey.
Please note that the Consultation period ends on 4th October 2019. Alternatively, if you would like to make more detailed comments, you can email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The survey only takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. All responses will remain confidential.
