Employment Support
The Council has an 'employment support' scheme that offers practical help and assistance in finding work. The scheme forms part of a Council strategy that aims to avoid people falling into rent arrears or struggling with mortgage payments and potentially putting their home at risk.
All residents, including adult sons and daughters can enlist onto the scheme.
The journey into employment throws up different challenges for each person. That may be childcare issues, health problems, a lack of experience or simply not knowing where to start.
Depending on individual circumstances, a person may only need to work for 16 hours each week to be significantly better off financially.
- You may be eligible for up to 30 hours free childcare from Central Government.
- Benefit Cap' exempt in some cases for working 16 hours a week.
