Sustainable Environment

Conservation and improvement

The Council works to conserve and improve local landscapes. We are proud to have won Green Flag awards for Beech Hurst and St Johns’ Park.

Planning policies

Planning policies are important in making sure that sustainable development deals with issues such as:

  • Energy use
  • Water use
  • Local air quality

Sustainable transport

We encourage and support sustainable transport such as cycling and electric vehicles.

It is important for:

  • Reducing traffic jams
  • Improving air quality
  • Promoting good health

Sustainable Communities

We support local communities to become more sustainable by:

  • Raising awareness
  • Working in partnership with them
  • Helping to deliver projects that meet a particular need

Sustainable Business

Energy efficiency grants of up to £5000 are available for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in the Mid Sussex Area.

These are offered by the Sustainable Business Partnership.
