PR2366/TC/JB - 06/07/2021

At the Council meeting on 30 June Councillor Robert Salisbury was named as Mid Sussex District Council Cabinet Member for Housing and Planning.

Councillor Salisbury has taken over the Cabinet for Housing and Planning role following the sad passing of Councillor Andrew MacNaughton, previous holder of the post. At the meeting several Councillors shared their memories and expressed their deep sadness at the loss of Councillor MacNaughton.

In addition to being a Mid Sussex District Council representative for Cuckfield, Councillor Salisbury was also due to be Vice Chairman in the current Council year. Due to his new Cabinet role he has relinquished his Vice Chairman role and a replacement will be appointed at the September Council meeting.

Councillor Jonathan Ash-Edwards, Leader of Mid Sussex District Council said: “Robert is a very experienced Councillor who will make a valuable addition to the Cabinet. He will bring significant planning knowledge and experience to the role, most recently illustrated as Chairman of the District Planning Committee. This experience will be vital for the forthcoming review of the District Plan.”
