Jubilee grants awarded to help communities celebrate historic event
PR2429/RC/JB - 11/04/2022
Grants to 37 neighbourhood, charity and local organisations will be awarded as part of a special Platinum Jubilee Grants programme from Mid Sussex District Council.
This year, 2022, will see a year-long Platinum Jubilee celebration of The Queen’s seventy years of service, having acceded to the throne on 6th February 1952. An extended bank holiday from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th of June will provide an opportunity for communities to come together to celebrate this historic milestone.
As part of a programme of celebration, Mid Sussex District Council created a grants programme to help those who wished to run events that celebrate and mark the Platinum Jubilee in Mid Sussex. It is hoped that the range of local events will enable a wide range of communities to take part in celebrations that are easily accessible and free to attend.
Councillor Norman Webster, Cabinet Member for Community commented,
“Her Majesty The Queen is unique in the remarkable service she has given to our country. We are delighted to be able to support this amazing range of events across Mid Sussex and I’m looking forward to joining the celebrations on this historic occasion.
“By allocating funding to lots of different voluntary organisations in towns and villages all over Mid Sussex there’s guaranteed to be a celebration near you, so please come along and join in the festivities as we mark this once in a lifetime event.”
These funded celebrations will be added to www.midsussex.gov.uk/platinum-jubilee alongside information about other activities to mark the Jubilee.
