Green Flag flies over Beech Hurst Gardens for a 10th consecutive year
PR2059/DT/MF - 05/08/2016
Beech Hurst Gardens in Haywards Heath is one of the very best parks and open spaces in the UK – and that’s official.
The stunning gardens, which are maintained by Mid Sussex District Council, have scooped the prestigious Keep Britain Tidy Green Flag Award for a 10th consecutive year.
The award, now celebrating its 20th year, recognises and rewards the best parks and green spaces across the country. A Green Flag flying overhead is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.
“We take great care to ensure the gardens are kept in great condition for local people to enjoy, so I’m delighted the Green Flag will continue to fly over Beech Hurst Gardens for a 10th consecutive year,” said Councillor Garry Wall, Leader of Mid Sussex District Council. “The gardens are a fantastic place to relax, with stunning views of the South Downs and a wildflower meadow that boasts some spectacular flora and fauna.
“There’s a miniature train that runs every weekend, which is great fun for children, and there are some excellent sports facilities including tennis courts and petanque pitches. We also have some stunning lawn green bowling facilities and I know the bowls club is always looking for new members.
“There really is something for everyone to enjoy at Beech Hurst Gardens so please come along soon and pay us a visit.”
International Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd said: “We are delighted to be celebrating another record-breaking year for the Green Flag Award scheme, especially as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Awards.
“All the flags flying this year are a testament to the efforts of the thousands of men and women, both staff and volunteers, who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.”
