Copthorne residents set to decide on Neighbourhood Plan
PR2378/TS/MF - 19/08/2021
A referendum will be held on Thursday 16 September 2021 to ask Copthorne residents if they would like a Neighbourhood Plan to be used in the determination of planning applications in their area.
Neighbourhood Plans give people the opportunity to decide on the future of their local area. Town and Parish Councils work alongside local residents to develop plans that will influence the planning of the area where they live and work.
Worth Parish Council has now finalised a Neighbourhood Plan for the village of Copthorne and, if over 50% of the people who vote in the referendum support the plan, it will be used by Mid Sussex District Council to help decide local planning applications.
Only residents in Copthorne are eligible to vote in the Neighbourhood Plan referendum. Recent home movers should check that they have updated their details on the electoral register and will be eligible to vote.
The deadline for new voter registration applications is Midnight on Tuesday 31 August 2021 and the deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday 1 September 2021. Residents who are already registered to vote by post should receive their postal vote packs around 26 August 2021.
For more information about registration or the electoral process, please contact the Mid Sussex District Council Electoral Services team on 01444 477003 or email elections@midsussex.gov.uk.
