PR2103/PR/MF - 15/05/2017
Former Mid Sussex District Council Chairman, Councillor Peter Reed has signed off in style by presenting Great Ormond Street Hospital with a cheque for £1500.
Councillor Reed served as Mid Sussex District Council Chairman for the maximum term of two years from 2015 to 2017. He presented his chain of office to new Council Chairman Councillor Bruce Forbes at the Annual Council meeting on Wednesday 10 May 2017.
Councillor Reed’s 10-year-old granddaughter Beatrice has a very rare condition that has required her to make regular trips to Great Ormond Street Hospital for monitoring and check-ups. During his time as Chairman, Councillor Reed has been involved with lots of fundraising activities that have helped to raise £1500 for the hospital. He was invited, along with Beatrice, to Great Ormond Street Hospital as a special guest on Thursday 4 May 2017 to present the cheque.
“The Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity has always been close to my heart,” said Councillor Peter Reed, former Chairman of Mid Sussex District Council. “It’s one of the leading children’s hospitals in the world and a pioneering force when it comes to finding new and better ways to treat childhood illnesses.
“We’ve been coming to the hospital with my granddaughter Bea since she was 2 years old and I cannot speak highly enough about the level of care she has received from all the doctors, nurses and volunteers.
“As you walk around the building you see so many brave children battling with serious illnesses and it really makes you want to do something to help. I hope this money will play some small part in helping Great Ormond Street Hospital continue the fantastic work they do.”
