By-election called for Ardingly Parish Council

PR2386/HJR/MF - 08/10/2021

A parish council by-election will be held on Thursday 25 November in Ardingly following the resignation of Councillor Jeremy James.

The by-election (if contested) only concerns registered electors in the Ardingly Parish Council electoral area; residents living in other areas of Mid Sussex will not be eligible to vote.

Following requests from local electors, a by-election has been called to fill the vacant seat. The candidates for the by-election have yet to be determined and any registered elector of the Ardingly parish area is eligible for nomination.

Local residents have until 4pm on Friday 29 October 2021 to submit candidate nominations. Nomination packs can be found on the Mid Sussex District Council website at www.midsussex.gov.uk/elections-voting/upcoming-elections/

The deadline for new voter registration applications is Tuesday 9 November 2021 and the deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday 10 November 2021. Recent home movers should check that they have updated the electoral register and will be eligible to vote.

Information about being a Parish Councillor will be available from the Ardingly Parish Council website https://ardingly.org/parish-council/. Additional guidance about being an election candidate and the various election procedures is available online from the Electoral Commission at www.electoralcommission.org.uk.
