Ansty and Staplefield residents set to decide on Neighbourhood Plan

PR2080/TS/MF - 12/12/2016

A referendum will be held on Thursday 19 January 2017 to ask Ansty and Staplefield residents if they would like a Neighbourhood Plan produced by the Parish Council to help determine planning applications in their area.

Neighbourhood Plans give people the opportunity to decide on the future of their local area. Town and Parish Councils work alongside local residents to develop plans that will influence the planning of the area where they live and work.

Ansty and Staplefield Parish Council has now finalised its Neighbourhood Plan and, if over 50% of the people who vote in the Ansty and Staplefield referendum support the plan, it will be used by Mid Sussex District Council to decide local planning applications.

Only residents in Ansty and Staplefield are eligible to vote in the Neighbourhood Plan referendum. Recent home movers should check that they have updated their details on the electoral register and will be eligible to vote.

The deadline for new registration applications is Midnight on Tuesday 3 January 2017 and the deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday 4 January 2017. Residents who are already registered to vote by post should receive their postal vote packs around 23 December.

New applications to appoint someone to vote by Proxy must be made by 5pm on Wednesday 11 January 2017 and applications for an emergency Proxy vote must be received by 5pm on Thursday 19 January 2017.
