What is Council Tax?

Council Tax is payable on every domestic property and pays part of the cost of services provided by the council. Service such as:

  • Education
  • Fire and Police Services
  • Roads
  • Libraries
  • Rubbish Collections
  • Planning

Council Tax fees are worked out based on a property's banding. Please see Bands and Charges page for further information.

Moving House

If you have recently moved and need to register for Council Tax, moving out of the district and want to inform us or want to become the council tax account holder at your address, the please select the relevant authority.
