The Hurstpierpoint Society in partnership with Mid Sussex District Council has carried out an initial appraisal of the three Conservation Areas in Hurstpierpoint. These are:
- Hurstpierpoint Conservation Area - designated in July 1972 and extended in 1989 and 1999
- Hurst Wickham Conservation Area - designated in January 1989
- Langton Lane Conservation Area - designated in February 1999
An exhibition to illustrate the findings of this work and to seek the views of local residents and interested parties was held at the Hurstpierpoint Village Centre in Trinity Road from Saturday 20th March until Monday 29th March 2010.
The exhibition panels are available to view below:
The exhibition panels describe the important features of the Conservation Areas that should be protected, suggest a number of changes to the boundaries and set out a number of ideas for enhancing the areas.
A questionnaire was made available at the exhibition for residents and interested parties to complete. A number of responses were received with useful comments on preserving and enhancing the conservation areas. The responses to the questionnaire will be taken into account in preparing the next stages of the appraisal document.
