Planning & Building Control History

This page is for requests regarding the Planning and Building Control history of a property or site within the Mid Sussex District.

This includes making available copies of Planning Applications, Enforcement Notices, Tree Preservation Orders, Building Control Completion Certificates, Legal Agreements (Sec 106, Sec 52, Sec 38 etc) and other similar entries for a specific property or site.

Viewing Historical Planning Records

Planning records can be viewed by the following methods.

Copies of Planning and Building Control documents

Copies of documents can be requested via our online document request form.

If you attend the council to view Planning documentation then you can request copies during your visit. Please note, the copies may not be available straight away but can be picked up, emailed or posted at a later date.

Please note that plans and drawings submitted to the Council as part of a Planning Application are Copyright of the original owners. Copies of such plans and drawings cannot be made without the prior written permission of the copyright owner (i.e. the architect, agent, or author of the document).

Copies of Building Control Completion Certificates are available for the past 15 years. We do not hold records prior to this date.

Competent Persons Scheme

We hold no paper records for work done under the Competent Persons Scheme. We are notified when such works are completed. The company who carried out the work, as well as the homeowner, should have a copy of the records.
