1.  I am changing my vehicle. How do I go about it?

The procedure for putting a replacement vehicle on a Private Hire Vehicle or Hackney Carriage Vehicle licence is dependant on the age and mileage of the replacement vehicle.

If the vehicle is new and has less than 10000 miles recorded on the odometer then the applicant will need to make an appointment to bring the vehicle into the council offices for the licensing officer to examine it.

If the vehicle has more than 10000 miles recorded on the odometer and/or is over one year old then the vehicle will need to undergo a council fitness test at one of the three contracted testing stations and will also need to undergo an MOT test. A Hackney Carriage or Private Hire Vehicle application form should then be completed (available from the web site or the main reception) and it should be submitted with the Fitness Certificate, MOT Certificate, Insurance Certificate (showing appropriate use) a copy of the V5 Registration Document and the appropriate Fee.

Only in exceptional circumstances will vehicles be plated on another day that is not Friday.
