Councillor Trevor Fisher

Councillor Trevor Fisher, a District Councillor for Bentswood Ward, Haywards Heath, has sadly died after battling with cancer.

Trevor Fisher lived in Haywards Heath for more than 40 years. He was an active member of the community, serving on the committee of Scouts and Guides Band. He supported the Brownie Pack run by his wife and ran a Junior Youth Club at the Methodist Church in Haywards Heath.

Councillor Trevor Fisher was elected as a Liberal Democrat to Mid Sussex District Council in 2007. During his time at Mid Sussex District Council he served on numerous committees and panels including, the Better Services Advisory Group, Licensing Committees, and Central Area Planning Committee.

Mr Fisher was a member of the Perrymount Players and had a keen interest in theatre, particularly stage lighting and sound. He also liked to visit National Trust properties and enjoyed pottery.

Councillor Gordon Marples, Leader of Mid Sussex District Council and Conservative group leader said: "Trevor was a well liked and respected member of the District Council. It is a tragedy that his skills have been lost after such a short time."

The sympathies of the entire Council are offered to Trevor's family and wide circle of friends."

Councillor Brian Hall, Liberal Democrat group leader said: "Trevor was a wonderful yet very modest man. His work for the community both as a councillor and fully involved citizen has been exemplary. Trevor had many skills and he never hesitated to help local organisations however and whenever he could. Trevor was one of the best and he will be sorely missed."

Councillor Margaret Hersey, Chairman of Mid Sussex District Council said: "Trevor was an extremely friendly, gentle man who was easy to talk to.  He will be sadly missed and my thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time."
