A Private Hire Operators Licence is required in order to be able to accept bookings for Private Hire Vehicles. The Council licence the premises where the provision is made for the acceptance of Private Hire bookings.

  • All such premises must be within the boundaries of the Mid Sussex District Council.
  • A land line telephone number specific to that address must be provided. 
  • Premises in other authority areas will not be licensed.

On application a check is made with the planning department to ensure that the licensing of premises as a Private Hire booking office is not in contravention of any planning regulations.

If planning consent is required for any premises then it is the responsibility of the applicant to obtain any planning consent prior to any licence being issued.
