The Mid Sussex Crime and Disorder Partnership (CDRP) have announced the first in a series of sessions to meet, explain and talk to the public about their aims and achievements.

On Tuesday 17th of March the first Face-the-people session will take place in Haywards Heath. The session will include the chance to meet Councillor Gordon Marples the Leader of Mid Sussex District Council and Chris Ball, Chief Inspector of Sussex Police for Mid Sussex. The session will take place at Sainsbury's supermarket in Haywards Heath from 9.30am - 4pm, with a chance to speak to senior members of the CDRP from 2.30pm

A further three Face-the-people events are being planned before the end of the year, covering more areas of the District.  These will co-incide with the already successful ‘Emergency 999 Days' run by the Emergency Services.

"The main aims of the CDRP are to work together to reduce crime and the fear of crime - working together we can achieve more " John Jory commented as Chairman of the Mid Sussex Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership. "Over the last year, working with our partners, we have successfully reduced crime by 7.6% - this means 498 fewer victims of crime than in the previous year.  Mid Sussex continues to be one of the safest places to live in the County. We are starting the Face-the-people sessions to talk with residents about how important it is that they feel well-supported and safe in the District, and how the CDRP is helping to achieve these aims."

The Face-the-people sessions were agreed at the meeting of the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP) that took place on 3rd March.  The budget and spending plan for 2009/10 were also agreed.
