Second Consultation Period for Community Governance Review of Haywards Heath

The second consultation with the public and identified stakeholders commences on 8th July 2010 and ends on 29th September 2010.

From January to March of this year, an initial consultation exercise was undertaken which asked people to give their views about how the ward boundaries in town might be adjusted. The proposals suggested were considered by the District Council on 16th June 2010. The report to Council and subsequent minutes and recommendations are available on this website.

This second consultation period gives you the opportunity to comment on these proposals and also to suggest further recommendations.

Before responding to the questions, respondents are asked to consider the following documents:-

- Covering letter outlining the Community Governance Review and proposals made in the first round of consultation.

- Map of Haywards Heath showing current and proposed ward boundaries.

- Electoral forecasts.

Responses can be made using the online form or in writing as indicated in the Terms of Reference.

Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007

Under the provision of this Act Mid Sussex District Council is the Principal Authority for the determination of parish council arrangements throughout the district.

On 15th October 2009 Haywards Heath Town Council made a request that the District Council undertake a Community Governance Review of the Town Council arrangements.

This matter was considered by Full Council on 18th November 2009 and it was agreed that the review be carried out according to the Terms of Reference (pdf, 43kb).

The review will consider:

  • The ward boundaries of every ward of Haywards Heath Town Council.
  • The number of members to be elected from every ward.
  • The warding of the Bolnore Village area of Haywards Heath and subsequent electoral arrangements.
  • Consequential recomendations for County and District councils arising from the review.

First Consultation Period for Community Governance Review of Haywards Heath

The initial consultation period commenced on 11th January 2010 and ended on 6th April 2010.
