This page is about empty homes in Mid Sussex. Here you can report an empty property to the Council and read about what action the Council is able to take.
The Council's Housing Enabling Team will take details of empty properties from members of the public (fill in the online Empty Homes form) and can provide owners of empty properties with advice about letting their properties, as well as other options for getting their property back into use.
Empty Dwelling Management Orders
Since April 2006 Local Authorities have had the power to take over the management of empty properties where owners have refused offers of assistance to bring a property back into use, and where there is no clear reason why the property is empty.
Tax Incentives
The Government has introduced a number of tax incentives to assist in the renovation of of certain categories of empty properties to help owners bring them back into use.
