Problems or queries?
If you experience problems using PublicAccess for Planning or have any queries
about the information shown on the site, please e-mail planninginfo@midsussex.gov.uk with details and we will do our best to assist you.
Documents not downloading?
Occasionally you will experience problems downloading documents. This is normally
because the document is too large and is taking too long to download. Unfortunately,
the Council does not control the volume of information submitted with an
application, and many documents can be quite large and in colour, resulting
in a large file size that is not conducive to download. Where possible we
try to split large files. If you cannot obtain a document of interest please
email planninginfo@midsussex.gov.uk giving the planning application number
and document details and we will try to assist you.
Browser compatibility and operation
Sorry Mac fans and other free spirits, PublicAccess for Planning has been optimized
for Microsoft Internet Explorer! Users of other browsers such as Safari,
Firefox and Opera, may experience compatibility issues while trying to browse
our site. Our supplier is aware of this limitation.
If you experience any problems where a window does not pop up, you may need to check that the site 'dc.midsussex.gov.uk/publicaccess/' is set up in your internet explorer settings. This can be checked by going to 'Tools, Internet options', and under the security tab, click trusted sites and then the sites tab, and add http://dc.midsussex.gov.uk/publicaccess/ (N.B. Remove tick from 'require server verification' box). You may also experience problems if you are using pop-up blocking utilities. If this is the case, see your own documentation for enabling the above address.
Personal security, data protection and availability of documents online
It is an accepted principle of the planning process that it should be open
and transparent. For this reason, and in accordance with national guidance
on best practice, the Council will try to make as much information as possible
available either at its offices or via its website.
The Council try to ensure that personal information supplied by the applicant or by those making representations cannot be used to engage in identity theft. However, it should be noted that the name and address of the applicant and those making representations will be made public. Please note that confidential or anonymous representations cannot be taken into account by the Council.
The Council will obscure areas of documents that relate to signatures, phone numbers or email addresses where these are published online. However, human error can occur and we may miss something. If you notice something that causes you concern, then please email: planninginfo@midsussex.gov.uk noting the application reference and document details and we will do our best to resolve the matter.
If you are submitting representations online, there are some simple steps that you can take to minimise any concerns you have over identity theft whilst ensuring that your comments will be noted:-
- Do not include personal information, other than your name and address within the body of your letter or email. Signatures on paper representations will be obscured online.
- There is no need to sign your representation if submitting electronically, although your name and address must form part of the document.
- If commenting by email, send your representation as an attachment to an email, this will ensure your email address is not published. Please ensure that your name and address remains.
Any representations made, either in writing or online, will be publicly available at council offices and online. You should therefore exercise caution when making comments to ensure that they are not offensive, inflammatory or libellous, as you remain responsible for any statements that you make. Think twice; type once!

Use of the system for professional research
The Council is aware that many users of this facility do so in a professional
capacity. Please be aware that whilst every effort has been made to
ensure the accuracy of the data, the planning information contained
within the site
is at present incomplete and must not be used as a substitute for carrying
out a formal search. Reliable information exists from January 2000,
although you may find incomplete history for previous years. You should
also be aware
that there are issues relating to the integrity of the underlying property
database. Duplicate properties and history trails may exist, and you
should therefore exercise care. We are working to correct this issues.
Boundaries
shown on the Ordnance Survey mapping and implied through planning applications
do not necessarily relate to land ownership. The Council does not hold
records of private land. All queries related to land ownership should
be directed
to HM Land Registry
