Location

This park is situated to the south east of Ashurst Wood and is on the outskirts of the village and covers an area of just over two hectares.

History

The park was bequeathed to the Council by Mrs. Pears on the death of her husband, hence the name John Pears Recreation Ground. Mrs Pears, prior to her demise, took great interest in the management and layout of the land.  It has been her wish that the land remains as open as possible without formal recreation.

Facilities & Features

Tennis Courts - 2x courts managed by the Parish Council.

Childrens Playground - A range of equipment is available in enclosed surroundings allowing play through activities such as climbing, swinging, rocking, and balancing.

Mini-Basketball Area - A small hard surfaced area with one hoop primarily for shooting.

Football Pitch & Pavillion - Informal kickabout area managed by the Parish Council.

Planting - The mature tree population consists of both native and exotic species; they are an important element of the landscape of the gardens providing structure and ornamental features as well as a sheltered habitat for both wild life and visitors to the park.
