The Environmental Health Section works to provide a better environment and better lives for residents in Mid Sussex by provdiing a range of services that include Food Safety, Health and Safety, Housing Standards, Licensing, Environmental Protection, Public Health Development, Pest Control and Dog Control.

Environmental Health professionals working in Mid Sussex are highly qualified Officers who specialise in one or more service areas.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH CUSTOMER SATISFACTION QUESTIONNAIRE

The Environmental Health Business Unit works to improve quality of life now and in the future, and our key aim is to reduce health inequalities to ensure that everyone has the same chance of a better quality of life in a healthier society. Environmental Health recognises that the community's well being depends on our social and physical environment, as well as our work places and the homes we live in.

We achieve this through a range of key functions such as Public Safety, Food and Health & Safety, Licensing, Environmental Protection and Housing Standards.

In 2009/10 we have:

  • actioned approximately 4,950 request for service e.g noise, smoke, pest control
  • enforced food safety in 1266 food businesses whilst undertaking 863 food hygiene inspections
  • enforced Health and Safety in the workplace of 3000 businesses
  • licensed 1067 taxis (hackney carriage and private hire )
  • enforced the Licensing Act in 456 premises
  • completed 123 disabled facilities grants to adapt homes
  • controlled emissions to air from 44 potentially polluting premises/industries

In 2009/2010 98% of residents who used our Environmental Health services say that we had made a positive difference.

Public Access - Licensing Application Information Service

PublicAccess for Licensing allows you to view details of licensing applications.
You can:-

  • Monitor the progress of an application and submit comments via email at licensing@midsussex.gov.uk;
  • Search a list of applications submitted;
  • View property details by reference to a map.
