Mid Sussex District Council has started work to create 100 extra spaces and completely resurface the Cyprus Road car park in Burgess Hill.
The car park improvement works, which started this week, will be carried out in phases to keep as many parking spaces as possible available. The work is not expected to cause any disruption to motorists and the new car park will be finished in around five weeks.
Haywards Heath is also set for a car park extension as Mid Sussex District Council will soon be starting work to extend The Orchards car park by 34 spaces. Work will start on Monday 25 January and is expected to last up to eight weeks. To enable land to be cleared in preparation for the extension at The Orchards car park, a temporary entrance will be set up closer to the shopping centre. Every effort will be made to keep any disruption to a minimum but there will be a short-term loss of a small number of cycle spaces and car parking bays while the work is carried out.
The vast majority of spaces will be available in The Orchards car park while the extension works take place but, if The Orchards does become full, alternative car parks are available in Haywards Heath at the following locations:
Haywards East, Haywards Road
Haywards West, Haywards Road
