If you are not able to vote in person in the EU referendum on 23 June it is important that you arrange a postal or proxy vote before the deadline to still have your say.
If you are unable to get to the polling stations on referendum day, but would still like to vote, please contact the Electoral Services Team to obtain a postal vote or to find out how to vote by proxy.
The deadline for postal vote applications is 5pm on Wednesday 8 June.
The deadline for proxy vote applications is 5pm on Wednesday 15 June.
In order to arrange postal or proxy votes you must already be a registered to vote. Voters are urged to get in touch as soon as possible to make these arrangements in time for the EU referendum on 23 June. A proxy is somebody who goes to the polling station and votes on behalf of the registered elector.
Residents who wish to appoint a proxy voter must explain why the proxy is required and if proxy voting is chosen for all future elections then evidence must be provided to support the application. Proxy voters who need to change the address to which their ballot paper is sent or need to change the details of their nominated proxy must contact the Electoral Services Team before this date.
To date over 18,000 postal votes have been issued, a record number for the area.
