Welcome to Mid Sussex District Council's Local Plan on-line After a long process of repeated periods of consultation, revision and a thorough examination at public inquiry the Local Plan for Mid Sussex was adopted in May 2004. This document provides the policies, proposals and the framework for development in Mid Sussex up to 2006 and replaces the five adopted area Local Plans that previously covered the District. The purpose of the Plan is to set out detailed policies and specific proposals for the development and use of land, in order to guide most day-to-day planning decisions. The housing requirement for this Plan is based on the adopted 1993 West Sussex Structure Plan. In all other aspects the Plan takes account of the most recent guidance available at the time of preparation, at County, regional and national level. FORMAT OF THE PLAN ON-LINE The Local Plan is divided into two parts: Written Statements and Proposals Maps. The Written Statements are made up to of links to the 43 chapters contained in the Local Plan. The first 10 of these are general topic chapters, for example Countryside, Housing, Economy. These are followed by the three town chapters (Burgess Hill, East Grinstead, Haywards Heath) and then the village chapters (in alphabetical order). The links to the Proposals Maps define those sites allocated for development or where particular policies apply. Policies contained in the Local Plan chapters can be cross-referenced by clicking on the policy reference numbers shown on the proposals maps. USING THE ON-LINE PLAN To use this interactive version of the Mid Sussex Local Plan to its full potential it is recommended that the user reads the following 'How to Use Guide / Help Link". These instructions will help the user navigate around the written statements and around the interactive maps. Please contact the Planning Policy Team (Tel:01444 477010, Email: LocalPlan@midsussex.gov.uk), if you have any questions relating to the on-line Local Plan or planning policy in general. |
