Mid Sussex District Council is committed to managing all public parks and open spaces to the highest possible standards.

Anti-social behaviour

Anti-social behaviour can be:

  • Anything that causes alarm or fear
  • Noise
  • Drunken or abusive behaviour
  • Vandalism, graffiti and other deliberate damage to property
  • Dumping of rubbish or litter
  • Abandoned vehicles

Antisocial behaviour should be reported to our antisocial behaviour team.

Dog Issues

Our Landscape Contract Monitoring Officers are responsible for the education and enforcement of dog fouling and other dog control issues in our parks, recreation grounds, and open spaces.

Please note: Mid Sussex District Council is not responsible for clearing up dog faeces. This is the responsibility of the dog owner.

Education

We can:

  • Put up posters about dog control legislation
  • Talk to dog owners on site
  • Enforce dog control legislation

Other dog complaints

Please see our Dogs page.

Parks improvements

Please visit our dedicated Green Spaces Engagement Hub to find out more about the exciting developments in our parks and how you can get involved.

Events in parks

The Council's Parks and Open Spaces play host to a varied programme of events throughout the year. These range from:

  • Fairs
  • Circuses
  • Fetes
  • Village days
  • Bonfire nights
  • Fireworks displays
  • And more

We accept enquiries from all organisations. Our aim is to put on events that will be positive for the local community.

Events take a lot of planning. We can offer you help to do this – but you need to contact us as early as possible with a minimum of 28 days' notice before the planned event.

If you think your event may be higher risk in terms of safety or community impact – please fill in our Safety Advisory Group – event notification form.
