Housing Strategy

This page is about the Council's Housing Strategy.  You can also get information on the assessment of Housing Need in Mid Sussex, which was informed by the Strategic Housing Market Assessment.

The Council's Housing Strategy 2009-14 sets out 5 objectives, to:

  • Increase the supply of affordable housing
  • Prevent homelessness
  • Improve the quality and sustainability of housing
  • Promote independence and inclusion
  • Provide efficient and customer focused housing services

It also identifies what resources will be used and how the Council will work in partnership to deliver the strategy.

Further details of Housing Needs in the District can be found at the Strategic Housing Market Assessment page.

We have undertaken a refresh of the Housing Strategy to provide an assessment of progress to the Action Plan; a consideration of the new context for housing, including housing market and implications of changes in government policy: and a new Action Plan for the period 2012-14.

Strategic Housing Market Assessment

The Strategic Housing Market Assessment provides a long-term judgement of the probable scale of change in future housing need and supply in the district. It is an important document in informing our Housing Strategy and Local Development Framework. Please see the Strategic Housing Market Assessment page in the Local Development Framework evidence base section of the website.
