The Licensing authority licences certain types of premises and activities in Mid Sussex to ensure the safety, health and welfare of persons and animals.

Where appropriate we investigate complaints concerning licensed premises, activities and practices.

Statement of Licensing Policy Consultation

Mid Sussex District Council, in accordance with Section 5 of the Licensing Act 2003, is currently reviewing our Statement of Licensing Policy.

The consulation phase is open from 27 October 2014 until the 14th December 2014.

The draft policy is the fourth since the Licensing Act 2003 became law on 24th November 2005. A number of revisions have been made by the Government in the light of experience of the Act and suggestions from its practitioners.

The purpose of the policy is to provide guidance for Officers and elected members in their administration and adjudication of licence applications.

Noise Guidance

The Environmental Protection Team frequently receive complaints about noise from Entertainment Venues and Public Houses, particularly during the summer months. Noise guidance has been prepared to assist venue operators and Licensees in controlling noise from their premises and should be considered as 'Good Practice'.
