The District Council is committed to helping Mid Sussex businesses in whatever way we can, not only during these difficult times for the economy, but into the future too. We have refocused and strengthened our approach to economic development. As well as a Cabinet portfolio for Economic Development, the District Council has a Planning Policy and Economic Development Team as the first point of contact at the District Council for business related enquiries.

Apply for funding to support your local economic development project or event
The District Council is offering the chance of grant funding to support economic development and business related activity in Mid Sussex. Subject to applicants satisfying certain criteria (pdf 23kb), District Council funding may be available to help projects, including events, that will support and develop the economy of all or parts of Mid Sussex. A number of local projects and events have already benefitted from financial support from this fund, so contact the Council's Planning Policy and Economic Development Team to see if you might be eligible.
Economic Development Strategy and Action Plan for 2010/11
The Council adopted an Economic Development Strategy (pdf, 1,671.0kb) in 2010. This sets out the Council's priorities and objectives in this area of its work and also acts as the basis for future annual action plans. These will set out in more detail what the Council, together with its private and public sector partners, will be doing to help achieve the prosperous and healthy economy that is so important to everyone who lives or works in Mid Sussex.
The Economic Development Action Plan (Word, 31kb) for 2011/12 has also been approved. This sets out in detail the actions the Council and its partners are taking over the year to help meet the objectives in the Economic Development Strategy and to address the particular issues facing businesses now and in the future.
While the District Council will be focusing on these objectives and actions, please let us know if, as a business in Mid Sussex, you have any particular concerns or issues that you would like to draw to our attention.
