Mid Sussex District Council is committed to making sure that the services it provides are accessible to all and that disabled people in particular are treated no less favourably than others in the provision of services, employment or housing. This section of our website provides information about services available to disabled people, both those provided by the Council and other organisations.

Information on parking provision in the District for Disabled Drivers who hold a valid Disabled Badge is available here. This also provides information on the West Sussex County Council blue badge scheme.
Assisted Refuse Collection
The Council can provide an Assisted Collection Service to help residents who are physically unable to take their waste out to the edge of their property.
Adaptations to your home
The main scheme available to assist people with disabilities to stay in their home is Disabled Facilities Grants.
Concessionary Travel and Community Transport
Mid Sussex District Council runs a scheme to help older people and disabled adult residents in Mid Sussex with the cost of travel. This includes bus passes for free bus travel in England (England National Concessionary Travel Scheme), reduced rail fares or reduced taxi fares.
Single Equalities and Diversity Scheme
We have adopted a Single Equalities and Diversity Scheme 2009-12 and produced an annual report on progress. The scheme includes a section on actions that the Council is taking to assist disabled people in the District. We have also undertaken impact assessments of all of our services.
